Is there insurance cover for hired e-scooters or bikes, if I or someone else covered under my policy gets into an accident and damages a vehicle or other property?

It's important to first check with the company you have hired the e-scooter or e-bike from to confirm how they cover you. Many companies have terms that state use of their products is at your own risk.

An e-scooter or e-bike rider would generally be covered for legal liability under our contents insurance policy for accidental damage caused to another person’s property while using a hired e-scooter or bike, if needed.

Our customers are covered for up to:

$2 million for damage to other people’s property, including related legal costs and expenses incurred (with AA Insurance’s consent)
$250,000 for bodily injury, not including related legal costs and expenses incurred by the customer.
